Viorel BĂDESCU
    Prof. dr. eng. Viorel Bădescu is affiliated with Department of Applied Thermodynamics and Candida Oancea Institute at Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania. His mainstream scientific contributions consist of more than 300 papers and 40 books related to various fields in science and engineering. Most of his research areas refer to terrestrial and space solar energy applications, including research on photo-thermal energy conversion by flat plate collectors and solar power plants, the physics of radiation, photovoltaic conversion of solar energy and solar radiation properties and solar radiation distribution and forecasting. Other fields of interest are statistical physics and thermodynamics, the physics of semiconductors, and the optimal control of thermal engineering processes. He theorized on present-day Mars meteorology and Mars terraforming and on several macro-engineering projects. In joint work with Richard B. Cathcart he theorized on stellar engines. He was/is Associate editor and member of the editorial board of several international journals including Space Power, Energy, Renewable Energy and Journal of Energy Engineering. He is member of 8 scientific societies including the International Solar Energy Society and the European Astronomical Society. Since 2017 he is full member of the Romanian Academy.

Viorel BOSTAN
    Prof. dr. eng. Viorel Bostan is rector of the Technical University of Moldova since 2016.
    He received a PhD Degree in Applied Mathematical and Computational Sciences in the University of Iowa, USA in 2004 and a D.Sc. title in Applied Informatics, Engineering and Machine Building Technology in the Technical University of Moldova in 2013.
    He is a Professor of Applied Informatics, Engineering and Machine Building Technology at the Technical University of Moldova since 2015.
    For over 20 years he was involved in research areas as Numerical Analyses, Finite Elements Methods, Contact Problems, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Renewable Energy Systems. He published 7 monographs, more than 320 scientific papers out of which 212 were presented at national and international events. He registered 32 patents.
    He has been teaching various disciplines, such as: Advanced Numerical Methods; Discrete Mathematics; Numerical Methods; Optimization Methods; Probability Theory; Higher Mathematical Analysis etc.

Neven DUIC
    Prof. dr. eng. Neven Duić is full professor at the Power Engineering and Energy Management Chair at the Department of Energy, Power and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture and Chair of the Energy Department of the Croatian Academy of Technical Sciences.
      He is president of the International Centre for Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems.
    Prof. Duić published 119 original scientific papers and 9 review papers in journals referenced in SCI and CC publications, out of which 98 are Q1 papers and 41 of them are in top 5% of the journals' category (referring to ISI WoK database). His papers were cited 2674 times according to Scopus database and 1899 times according to WoK. His h-index is 30 according to Scopus and 25 according to WoK.
     Prof. Duić is editor of Q1 Energy Conversion Management journal, subject editor for Q1 journal Energy, a member of the Editorial Board of: Q1 journal Applied Energy, Q3 journal Thermal Science and, since 2013, he is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems – JSDEWES, indexed in Scopus.
     He organized 13 of the series of conferences on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWS) and was a member of organizing, scientific and programming committees of more than 40 other conferences.
     Prof. Duić is coordinator of the Croatian participation in two projects of the Croatian Foundation for Science and of over 25 international research projects.
     His main areas of interests are: Energy policy and planning, energy economics, sustainable development policy and resource planning, climate change mitigation, combustion engineering and modelling, research and innovation policy.

  • Maria GAVRILESCU
         Prof. dr. eng. Maria Gavrilescu is full professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Management, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Protection, Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași, Romania where she works since 1998.
         During 1983 – 1998 she worked in the Chemical-Pharmaceutical Research Institute Bucharest - Research Center for Antibiotics, Iasi.
         She was Ph.D. supervisor in Chemical Engineering (2002-2011) and is Ph.D. supervisor in the Environmental Engineering domain (2009-now).
         She authored 8 new technologies applied in industry, developed 20 research themes with companies, coordinated 15 national grants (and was involved in other 10) and worked in 6 international grants.
         She published 18 books (one as editor), 18 chapters in books of editors (Wiley, Springer, Elsevier, Signpost), 9 manuals/student books. The research results were published in ISI journals and Proceedings (138 + 10), in peer-reviewed Romanian and international journals (91), in peer-reviewed proceedings of conferences (37). She authored 12 patents (9 of them included in Derwent Innovations Index).
         Over 2000 citations of her papers are recorded, corresponding to an h-index = 22 (WoK) and of h-index = 23 (Scopus). She organized and was member of the organization committee of 55 conferences.
         She is:
    - Editor in Chief of the Environmental Engineering and Management Journal since it was launched (2002); the journal is included in the ISI database (since 2007).
    - Editor-in-chief of Procedia-Environmental Science, Engineering and Management, included in international databases
    - Series Editor of the Annals of the Academy of Romanian Scientists, Series of Chemistry Sciences.

Brigitte HASEWEND
      Brigitte Hasewend is Director of ESEIA and Director ISP@TUGraz.
    During March 2014 - June 2017, Brigitte Hasewend acted as Vice-President of the Supervisory Board of Joanneum Research GmbH. She is a Member of the ESEIA Governing Council and founding Director of the European Sustainable Energy Innovation Alliance (ESEIA). She also heads the International Strategic Research Partnerships at TU Graz, Austria.
     Before joining TU Graz (2007) Brigitte Hasewend spent 10 years living and working in Brussels, at DG Research of the European Commission where she worked as Project Officer for Marie Curie excellence actions, as well as Policy Officer for the Europe of Knowledge 2020 and the Forum on Science and Society. Previously, she was an executive working as Deputy Director in the international organization Academic Cooperation Association (ACA). During 1991-1996 Brigitte Hasewend was Deputy Director for the International Relations at TU Graz. Brigitte Hasewend holds a Master’s degree in English and French language studies from Graz University including a high school teacher qualification.
    Her activity focus is on EU innovation policy, international innovation governance, systems innovation, internationalization of higher education.

Soteris KALOGIROU
     Prof. dr. eng. Soteris Kalogirou received his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Glamorgan, UK (1995). In June 2011 he was awarded from the University of Glamorgan, UK, the title of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.). From January 2019, he is a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences.
      He was a building services consultant in the firm Intersol Engineering (1982-1987), and was employed in various positions in the Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Practice Departments of the Higher Technical Institute (1987-2007). In 2008 he was transferred to the Cyprus University of Technology where he is now Professor of Mechanical Engineering.
     He is internationally recognized as an expert in the field of solar thermal collectors, hybrid photovoltaic/thermal systems and in the use of artificial intelligence for the performance prediction of energy and renewable energy systems. He is member of Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), Chartered Engineer, member of FEANI, member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), member of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) and member of the Institute of Refrigeration.
     He published 173 papers in international peer reviewed journals and 199 papers in conference proceedings, mainly on solar thermal systems, on computational simulation and optimization of solar energy conversion systems and on the use of artificial intelligence for the performance prediction of energy and renewable energy systems. His work received until now more than 12500 citations, based on Scopus (h-index = 57) and more than 22000 citations in Google Scholar (h-index = 67) and he was invited speaker in 49 conferences. He has also authored or contributed chapters in 53 books, he is the editor of the book Artificial Intelligence in Energy and Renewable Energy Systems, editor of the book Soft Computing in Green and Renewable Energy Systems and author of the book Solar Energy Engineering: Processes and Systems and Solar Thermal Desalination, both published by Academic Press. He has participated in the organization of 81 international conferences. He has supervised a large number of undergraduate, Masters and Ph.D. theses.
     He is Editor-in-Chief of Renewable Energy and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Energy journal, Editorial Board Member in another 15 international scientific journals. He is reviewer of papers in another 61 journals and conferences.
       He is the founder of Archimedes Solar Energy Laboratory.
